Why Homeschooling is Better than Public Schooling

My name is Jayme, and I believe homeschooling is better than public schooling. There are many reasons why homeschooling is better than public schooling. For example, freedom of religion, being able to teach your child what you think they need to know, and avoid teaching what they don’t, and being able to let your child have some freedom. No kid needs to sit for an hour and a half, getting a lecture on something they could learn in 10-20 minutes, and what about family time? If your child is at school for 6-7 hours, you are never going to see them! Especially if their teachers packed  a load of homework on your kids.

If your child goes to public school, he or she is most likely going to be taught evolution as fact. But what if your family doesn’t follow these beliefs? Your child will be taught a different mindset than you, and that could turn into a mess when they come home and tell you that they learned that humans evolved from monkeys. It is better to homeschool because then you can teach your children the beliefs you feel they should know.

Or what if the teacher decides that it’s a good idea to have their students spend a week, learning every single detail about the Pig War? Is it really important that your child knows the name of the father of the man who owned the pig, or the wife of the man who shot the pig? It is better to homeschool, so you can teach your child what you feel they need to know, and don’t waste time on the things that are no longer important.

And what about the hours your child will spend, sitting and getting lectured on one topic or another? Most of that time is probably spent hunched over a desk sleeping! And that means they will most likely get a detention, and have to spend even more time at the school! If you are homeschooling, you the teacher get to decide how much time they spend on each topic.

And when your kid gets home, most of the time they either lock themselves in their room to do homework, or they flop on the couch and play a video game until 10 PM. You are never going to be able to see them, or have a conversation that doesn’t involve school. So, in many ways, it is much better to homeschool than to send your child off to public school.
